Howdy Saints,
Hope all is good, after an exciting week 1 of Comp. [Go those “Vintage” legends leading the Club Challenge, with a big win to start. I think we got the most favorable draw to open up with, But we’re old, so we’ll take it..!]
Hoping everybody pulled up without injury & you’re all ready for Rd 2 2moro. It appears we might get a game, after it looked very doubtful earlier in the week.

Just to update you all with the latest. ‘The Phantom’, Paul O’Rourke went into hospital on Tues, after a brilliant come-back game for the Saints on Sat, to have a tumor removed from his abdomen (along with a muscle or 2, so now he’s got a 5pack). All went well with the opp, so let’s all say a prayer for his speedy & complete recovery. It could be several weeks, but the Vintage certainly would love to see him back in the ‘run-on’ squad as soon as it can happen.. All our best wishes Phantoms.. Go well.

Great games from the “Redmen” & the “Phantoms” against 2 quality opposition teams ended in two 2 all draws. Well done lads, with both teams unlucky not to take full points, but from the side-lines both squads looked solid, and a strong year beckons. (Where’s that promised match report Tug.?)
One point that was clear from both games, it takes (& will continue to take) a full game effort from Everyone to keep a lid on emotions each week to prevent things boiling over (& sounding like a Sunday arvo game.!!). We are all competitive ‘young’ sportsmen (some more than others) and some of the people we play against are far from perfect, as we are- but they’re worse, So do your very best to keep that Saints Spirit ‘out in front’… It can be hard work.. Go for the Positives.

Now, for the VINTAGE… What a solid start. Sure, I think we played one of the weakest teams, and Dashy scored 2, but still a real positive 1st game.. Plenty of great points. The Phantoms return after so many years off… Fantastic (Such a pity he only got one game for now). And Mick S had an awesome debut, welcome to the Saints mate. Great to have you with us, you’ll be a real asset (& welcome to all other new Saints too). 2 goals for Luke C, well done mate. Let’s not think about how many it could have been..!! We were certainly getting some classy balls thru to you. Hope that can keep coming. And 1 for Col, very nicely taken, great stuff mate.. Maybe this week you blokes are roll a few of those ‘Hollywood’ passes thru for olde Noellie eh.??? And TG got my ‘3 points’ for a fantastic game (no ambulance needed) all over the field, with some A grade passing. Top effort to all the boys, after a long time off the field. It was brilliant to be back out there with you all. Thanx to Chris’O & Dash 4 helping us out..
Sadly we’re missing heaps of lads again 2moro. Hopefully our 2 new lads will be ready to start, But Chris’O.. We look like needing you again in goals, and Elvis, be ready for heaps of game time please.

Now lads. As you might have seen, Toddy will be bringing DRINKS to the games, so bring some coins, and get your liquid off him. (But, please take YOUR RUBBISH home with YOU..! And make sure you get your $10 pair of socks off Toddy too..

Also, Matt & DC have organised for our ‘Saints’ Church visit to be on Sun May 4th, 6:30pm for the ‘Café Church’ session, so make arrangements to join us all there, or let ME know why you can’t make it..!!!
