It’s on Again!!
St Andrews Football Club’s Annual;

Barrington River Weekend

Australia Day Long Weekend (Friday evening through to Sunday mid afternoon)

We are filling numbers fast so don’t be left out. Limited numbers always applies.

Leaves Sunday evening and all day Monday for family days back at home!

The agenda;

Travel in pooled cars on Friday evening to Barrington Lodge (744 East Barrington Rd, Barrington). A trailer will go also so extra equipment/Clubs can be stowed in that.

Sleep in dormitory style bunk beds, Lodge has full toilet/shower, kitchen and lounge facilities.

Canoe Saturday morning down the Barrington through to approx mid afternoon time, afternoon beers and lunch, usually a group ‘backyard cricket’ type game and beers on the rear huge lawn, but time is your own.

The Barrington is a fast flowing rock strewn river course of a low to moderate volatility level.

A challenge, but that’s the fun of it. Wild country side in places away from the road (can hear those banjos now!)

Sunday we golf either Gloucester or Stroud courses in the morning before the heat, and luncheon at their Clubhouse then travel home Sunday afternoon.

The Costs;

$80 per head for the accommodation, canoes, paddles, helmets, vests and skirts and transport from the lodge to the river head, and from the pick-up point back to the lodge (the canoes anyway as its usually right at the lodge door).

A little direct compo to your driver up and back would be appreciated by them also.

Golf is extra, but they are country links not city so cheaper. We usually do the 9 holes. Some leave at this point should they not want to partake.

The Barrington Lodge also will supply extra (at your cost) wetsuits (I usually wear one and always find I was glad I did), and they have six open-type ski-canoes for novices that don’t take as much effort to flip back if you have a spill.

What you will need to take with you;

1) A Pillow

2) A sleeping bag or doona or blanket.

3) Your own food, snacks, for Dinner Friday night, Breakfast and Dinner Saturday, snacks for the river in a water proof bag you can stow small in the back of the canoe. Breakfast Sunday morning. ( Summary; 2 Dinners, 2 Breakfasts + nibblies for 2 nights and river). All the drinks you need. There are big fridges there.

4) A roll of toilet paper is a good option, just in case. Toiletries and soap.

5) A beach towel

6) A spare pair of shoes that can go in water is a great option in case you fall from your canoe.

7) A cap. (put it under your canoe helmet)

8) Sunscreen

9) Clothes for driving up/golf/going home, and separate clothes for the river,

10) Golf Clubs and trolley should you want to play. Trolleys not always available at the course.

What you do next;

1) Your commitment noted and received by Elvis ASAP phone 0439-564643 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

2) Your $80 cheque or cash funds paid to Elvis before Christmas (but why wait?).

3) Guys it’s a Yes or a No…..maybe’s don’t help with numbers or with stress.

You will be then told later, what time to meet at Noel’s for kick-off Friday evening.
